Sophia and Monica were tired of hearing that classical music is something that young people can't enjoy, or that nobody wants to go to a stuffy concert hall to sit quietly for three hours listening to something they don't understand.  So we decided to change the rules!

Western District is a vibrant chamber music collective dedicated to turning the traditional classical music experience upside down!

Western District draws its name and inspiration from a bustling, ever-changing neighborhood in Hong Kong, where its co-founders reside.

An active performer in Hong Kong, Monica has played in the Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, the Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Asia World Expo, and the Hong Kong Fringe Club, to name a few.  She plays with the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra, the Hong Kong Early Music Society, and is the co-founder of Western District, a chamber ensemble with a contemporary take on classical music.
